In 1898, Mutual of Enumclaw was founded as Farmers’ Mutual Insurance Company. The originating company, founded by a group of Enumclaw, Washington residents, was designed to insure farm and village buildings and personal property from loss due to fire and lightning. In 1962, Farmers’ Mutual merged with the Butteville Insurance Company of Woodburn, Oregon. In 1966, Farmers’ changed its name to Mutual of Enumclaw. Enumclaw Property and Casualty Insurance was created in 2002.
