Best and worst cars based on collision loss payments
By Insure.com
Are you driving a tank or a tin can? The Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI) has compiled some numbers that show which cars are going to cost you more to fix after an accident and which cars aren't going to pound your checkbook.
These results show the best and worst cars for collision loss payments for 2004-2006 models. The average loss payment per insured vehicle year lets you compare how much damage is done in an accident while factoring in both the frequency of claims and the average loss payment per claim. Loss results are stated in relative terms (100 represents the average result for all vehicles in each loss coverage category).
