Editor's note: The following text is taken verbatim from Allstate's "confidential" employee training manual, "Unrepresented Segment Training." An "unrepresented segment" refers to a person who does not have a lawyer but who has been involved in an accident with an Allstate policyholder.
1. Claim rep receives loss report from bank with partial third-party identification (name and likely city).
2. Claim rep checks telephone directory and other cross-references without success.
3. Claim rep pursues license tag verification/tracing.
4. Claim rep logs on to SAR/Claims a la Carte information database and checks name and city database.
5. System returns name, address and phone number based on update to consumer database (magazine of credit card address changes.)
6. Claim rep checks for assets and finds average home price in third party's neighborhood is $300,000.
7. Claim rep calls third party and third party admits having insurance. Claim rep phones insured and explains how to file a claim against 3rd-party carrier.
